We spent over two hours at our local lavender allotments for their harvesting weekend. The perfect weather, H loved helping Shaun and it was nice to breathe in some fresh air. There was rosemary beetle hunting (H found one on her own) plenty of lavender picking, lavender oil distilling, an amazing bag stall (good job I didn’t take much cash with me), two honey stalls (H won some honeycomb), Carshalton Lavender, Naturally Thinking and more.
H enjoyed it – we’ve brought her here since she was a baby (in fact, since she was in my tummy), so she looks forward to helping pick the lavender every year. This year there were more bees than I’ve seen before which is a good sign. H walked around with one stem of lavender ‘for the bee to have some food on’ which was kind of her. Possibly, fortunately, the bee didn’t take her up on her kind offer.
