St. Philomena’s Car Boot Sale was back, the first one we’ve been to in a Very Long Time. There were some good book bargains to be had, as well as a Dora the Explorer Scrabble game (for 50p with ten missing tiles – can’t complain!).
So far my favourites are Mo Willems ‘I Love My New Toy’ (we’ve had ‘Don’t Let The Pigeon Drive The Bus’ for a long time now, so we’re familiar with him) – which reminds me of ‘I Want My Hat Back‘ which H got last Christmas – it made me laugh out loud anyway. We did good as far as expanding the Topsy & Tim collection goes, getting ‘Topsy & Tim Have Chickenpox’ (is there anything they haven’t done?) and a counting book. Aside from that we found two Rikey Austin books in the bear series which were bargains, and another Dora book as well as a few other random titles.
All in all I reckon I spent just under a fiver for the lot – and seeing as I’ve finally cleared the middle shelf which had all H’s reusable nappies on it, we’ve space for books in her room now – and more books to fill it with. I’m happy with that kind of spending anyway.
Even better, H got to play with her friend M, the two chased around, collected pinecones, became wizards, magicked us into envelopes, boxes and leaves, and had a fabulous time – and the weather held out. Aaah, it was great!
