Last Monday I stopped by our local shop in Wallington which has the largest Halloumi selection I’ve ever seen. I didn’t actually buy halloumi, instead it was a wipe-clean tablecloth – two metres of for under a fiver (and it’s REALLY good too).

I picked up H from nursery, and decided to let her know there was a surprise when we got home and I thought she’d like it. So we got home, I asked her to close her eyes, and took off the old tablecloth, putting on the lovely new black and white spotty one.

“You can open your eyes now!” I proudly declared, to which she promptly did, looked in huge disappointment at the table, almost cried, and let me know “I’m closing my eyes again mummy, so you can make a good surprise”.

That told me, then.
