It’s amazing what good a good nights sleep can do. It was mostly medicated, but once I was asleep that was pretty much it until 7.30 the following morning. Today I’ve noticed how asthmatic my cough actually is – it’s a bit like starting a car when the engine won’t turn over – the engine bit being when you can cough normally. We went to Dramabuds this morning, and it’s like someone waved a magic wand over H – she really came out of her shell immediately – joining in and doing stuff – for the first time ever I was a parent on the side watching rather than a parent joining in – she was so independent. She didn’t need me. It felt kind of weird not to be needed, but nice too – like she’s ready to make the step up to the next group (which she can’t do until she’s 4 anyway). Even sweeter she did a few waves to Tiddler (the youngest of Caterpillar Tales) and shouted bye to him as we left.

I’ve taught H a game I played when I was little – my Grandad Fred and Uncle Joe would play it at my Nanna’s house in York. Given Grandad Fred died in 1976, that’s a long time ago so I must have a good memory. You hide 1p in the room and say ‘Fairy Fairy in the sky, drop me a penny as you go by’ and tell the child whether they’re hot or cold to find it. Should be fun…
